About Pack Up & Ride

Daniel and Sarah Riding in Penang

Practical advice. Real experiences. More reasons to ride.

Pack Up & Ride is for people who believe the best part of motorcycle travel is not simply reaching the destination. It is everything that happens along the way.

The winding road you did not expect. The small town you stopped in for fuel and ended up staying for lunch. The piece of gear that proved its worth when the weather changed. And sometimes, the lesson you learned because something did not go quite according to plan.

We created Pack Up & Ride to share practical motorcycle travel advice, useful gear guides and real-world information that helps riders get more from every journey.

Whether you are planning your first weekend away or preparing for a much bigger adventure, our aim is simple: to help you ride further, pack smarter and explore more.

Built for Riders Who Want to Explore

Motorcycle travel can be as simple as packing a bag and disappearing for the weekend, or as ambitious as planning a journey covering thousands of kilometres.

Either way, preparation makes a difference.

Pack Up & Ride covers the things we believe matter to riders on the road:

  • Motorcycle travel — planning trips, finding great roads and making the most of the journey.
  • Destinations — places worth exploring and inspiration for your next motorcycle adventure.
  • Riding gear — practical guides to helmets, jackets, boots and protective equipment.
  • Motorcycle luggage — panniers, tail bags, tank bags and ways to carry what you need without taking everything you own.
  • Maintenance — straightforward information to help keep your motorcycle ready for the road.
  • Camping and adventure gear — equipment for riders who like their accommodation a little closer to nature.
  • Motorcycle guides — practical advice, comparisons and lessons that can make life on two wheels easier.

Our focus is not on owning the most equipment. It is on choosing the right equipment and knowing how to use it.

Real-World Advice, Not Just Specifications

There is plenty of motorcycle information online.

What we want Pack Up & Ride to provide is useful context.

A motorcycle jacket can have an impressive list of features, but what matters is how those features translate to a long day in the saddle.

A set of panniers can look fantastic in a product photograph, but riders need to know whether they are practical when packing for a trip.

And the motorcycle with the biggest numbers on a specification sheet is not necessarily the motorcycle you will most enjoy riding.

Our guides are written to help make those decisions easier.

Where we recommend products, our goal is to explain why they may be useful, who they are suitable for and what you should consider before buying.

Independent, Practical and Rider Focused

Pack Up & Ride is an independent motorcycle publication.

Our editorial content is created for riders first. We aim to provide straightforward information without unnecessary hype and to make our recommendations easy to understand.

Some pages contain affiliate links. If you follow one of these links and make a purchase, Pack Up & Ride may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate relationships do not determine what we say about a product or whether we believe it deserves a place in a rider’s kit.

You can read more about this in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Adventure Does Not Have to Be Epic

We love spectacular roads, distant destinations and motorcycles loaded for big adventures.

But we also believe motorcycle travel does not have to involve crossing a continent.

Sometimes adventure is taking the long way home.

It might be a Sunday morning ride, your first overnight motorcycle trip, a weekend camping beside your bike or finally exploring a road you have driven past dozens of times.

The important part is getting out there.

Always Learning, Always Riding

Motorcycles, equipment and technology change, and good advice needs to change with them.

We regularly review and update our guides as we learn more, new equipment becomes available and better ways of doing things emerge.

You will also find publication and update information on our articles so you can see when a guide was last reviewed.

We do not pretend there is only one correct way to travel by motorcycle. Different bikes, riders, destinations and budgets require different solutions.

That is part of what makes motorcycle travel interesting.
